Russ Whitney, founder of Whitney Information Network, Inc., was the guest of honor and keynote speaker. A self-made multimillionaire and bestselling author, Mr. Whitney shared his wisdom with new and experienced real estate investors who come from backgrounds ranging from farm labourers to professors.
Launched in 2001, Whitney UK, Ltd. has helped UK investors enter and build wealth in this multimillion-pound industry. More than 300 Wealth Club members, current and former students, trainers, mentors, and speakers participated in the Wealth Club 2008 Conference.
"We expected to improve over what we did last year, but the results exceeded even our wildest expectations," said Iain Edwards, Whitney UK's managing director, noting that attendance was up by approximately one third, the presentations were outstanding, and the amount raised for Make-A-Wish Foundation UK was more than double last year's amount. "With £147,050 pledged from our Friday evening auction to Make-A-Wish, we look forward to granting wishes for more than 35 terminally ill children and their families this year."
Items auctioned included tickets to the Make-A-Wish Valentine's Ball, courtesy of Make-A-Wish Foundation UK; a day driving armoured vehicles at Bovington with Lindsay Hopkins, courtesy of Lindsay Hopkins; a tax health check, courtesy of Anton Lane & Rohan Weerasinghe; a day filming Homes Under the Hammer with Martin Roberts, courtesy of Martin Roberts; the Lessons and Learnings of the Secret Millionaire, a two-day course for two people, courtesy of Gill Fielding; 20 pairs of tickets to Kevin Green's land development course, courtesy of Kevin Green.
"I want to express my personal thanks as well as the gratitude of our agency and the clients we serve for the enthusiasm and commitment shown by everyone connected with Whitney UK to making the partnership with Make-A-Wish as successful as possible," said Karen England, director of fundraising, Make-A-Wish Foundation UK (www.makeawish.org.uk). "Over the past two years, they have raised more than £212,000, which is a huge amount and an invaluable contribution to our target of granting a Make-A-Wish to every one of the 20,000 children living with a life-threatening illness in the UK."
The Whitney UK Wealth Club conference has become one of the UK's most prestigious property networking events. "Our goal is to provide our students with knowledge, skills, and networking opportunities, and we did that and so much more at this conference," said Bruce Attree, Whitney UK conference manager. "We're already working on how we can outdo ourselves next year."
