Whitney UK Contribution is Making Wishes Come True

Make-A-Wish Foundation Shares Details of Wishes Granted by £52,000 ($100,000) Donation

CAPE CORAL, FL, July 19, 2007 – Contributions made through fundraising efforts of Whitney UK, Ltd., have financed ten wishes for youngsters struggling with life-threatening illnesses. The Company's goal is to fund at least ten more this year. "Sharing and giving back to our communities is fundamental to the culture of our Company," said Russ Whitney, founder and chief executive officer of Whitney Information Network, Inc.

"Our business mission is to teach wealth creation strategies and it is wonderful to see our instructorsand students using their skills to support the work of Make-A-Wish Foundation."

"Make-A-Wish Foundation UK (www.make-a-wish.org.uk) is delighted to have been selected as the Charity of the Year of Whitney UK," said Karen England, director of fundraising for the agency. "There is a real partnership feel to the relationship, with the employees, investors, and students of Whitney showing huge commitment and support. I am confident that they will successfully reach their target of raising £100,000 to help Make-A-Wish to grant 20 magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses."

Among the wishes granted to youngsters in England by the Whitney UK contribution:

  • Benjamin, an 11-year-old boy from West Bromwich with Hunter syndrome (a muscle wasting disease; victims usually die in their teenage years), was flown with his family from Manchester to Orlando, Florida for a stay at the Give Kids the World Village. The family was able to visit the area's theme parks and Benjamin's wish to swim with the dolphins was fulfilled on a special day at SeaWorld's Discovery Cove.
  • Rachel, a seven-year-old girl from County Antrim with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, received her wish to meet Minnie Mouse at Disney World in Florida.
  • Ten-year-old Jack from Bristol, who is living with a degenerative neurological disease, received his wish for an "extreme experience" in Lapland. He and his family enjoy a 9km safari pulled through the forest on a sled led by husky dogs, a reindeer ride, and more.
  • Kelly, a 14-year-old girl from Bath, is living with cystic fibrosis and longed for a shopping day in London . She was treated to a stay at a five-star hotel and chauffeured on the shopping spree of her dreams.

  • Four-year-old Simeon from London has a brain tumor and had his wish to drive a steam train like the Fat Controller from Thomas the Tank Engine granted.

Five more wishes have been identified and either granted or are in the process of being granted. "The strength these youngsters show in dealing with their illnesses is amazing," said Iain Edwards, Whitney UK, Ltd.'s managing director. "We are proud to do what we can to help ease the way for them and their families.”
